What wine to choose in the summer? | Culinary Blog DOMOS

To the picnic

Fresh summer Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, the piercing French Chablis or the green Portuguese Vigna Verdi will be an excellent accompaniment to the summer picnic.

The main thing here is to take care of the correct temperature of the contents of the bottle: white wines should be cooled to a temperature of 10-12 degrees. You can use special packages to maintain temperature or ice packs. These wines are perfect for a summer dinner with fish, white meat, poultry, light appetizers with pate.

Well, if you do not have the desire or the opportunity to chill the wine, the young red Valpolicella or Chianti will be the best option.

Neither red nor white

As the French say, if you are not sure which wine to prefer, white or red, take pink. For example, fine wine from Provence (France), or bright and juicy from Navarre (Spain). The rule of serving is the same as that of white wines – pink wine is cooled to 10 degrees.

Rosé wine is associated with lightness and carefree, it is perfect for a romantic meeting. From food, this wine is combined with cheeses and fruits, light salads, red fish, grilled meat.

Sparkling wines will help to add lightness to life, cheer up and create a relaxed atmosphere. For example, Italian Prosecco, Spanish Cava, delicate French cremanses from the Loire Valley and, of course, Champagne. If you want something sweeter – try the Italian Moscato d’Asti. In the summer, both pink and fruit sparkling wines are good, they are suitable for meeting friends, for parties and special occasions, for a summer buffet.

Of course, you should take care of the ice bucket – sparkling wines should be cooled to 6-9 degrees. Add cold water to a bucket – this will cool the wine faster. From food with sparkling wines, snacks, fruits, and airy desserts are classically well combined.

For the party

The atmosphere of the holiday will be supported by light cocktails based on wine, fruits and a large amount of ice (pear, punch and sangria). Southern peoples prepared such drinks to refresh themselves during a long working day under the scorching sun, and, importantly, not to get drunk. They really knew a lot!

For sangria, you will need dry red wine – do not take expensive, you will still mix the ingredients, so the taste is not so important here. A strong drink is added to it – most often brandy or triple-sec liquor (but it can also be whiskey, rum or cognac), fruits – oranges, apples, peaches, sugar (honey as an option) and sparkling water. It can be a simple soda, tonic or even sparkling wine. The finished drink is seasoned with spices, usually cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, ginger, and ice is added. For one bottle of wine, there is one glass of a mixture of brandy and liquor (1: 1), about three fruits the size of an average apple and 2 tablespoons of sugar.

Such a drink is enough for a large company, it is easy to prepare, and it will perfectly support the good mood of the guests.

On a rainy summer evening

.. you want to be in a country house, take a good book or turn on your favorite movie, wrap yourself in a warm blanket and complete the picture with a bottle of Australian Shiraz or Argentinean Malbec. And if you are planning a romantic dinner, then the elegant Pinot Noir will be a good company.
