How to make Red Velvet Cookies
Step 1 Make flour mixture
Take a bowl and whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together.
Step 2 Beat butter and sugar
Beat butter with a hand mixer until fluffy, add brown sugar and white sugar; beat until smooth. Beat egg, milk, and vanilla extract into butter mixture; mix in food colouring until uniformly coloured.
Step 3 Mix both flour and butter mixture together
Stir flour mixture into butter mixture with electric mixer on low speed until combined; add 1 cup of chocolate chips. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for 1 hour or overnight.
Step 4 Make balls out of the cookie dough
Preheat oven to 175 degrees C. Line baking tray with baking sheet. Make balls out of the dough and place it on the baking tray. Press them slightly to flatten them.
Step 5 Bake the cookies
Bake the cookies until edges are lightly browned, about 10 minutes. Sprinkle the cookies with chocolate chips and let it rest. Store the cookies in an airtight container.
